Description

Ogden Hamachek and Marjorie Hamachek were married in Massachusetts in 1947 and shortly thereafter returned to his home in Kewaunee, Wisconsin, to live. On October 4, 1948, a son, David Francis Hamachek, was born to the parties. After the birth of the child, Marjorie Hamachek commenced an action for divorce, and on the 3d of October, 1950, a judgment was entered dissolving the bonds of matrimony and, among other things, adjudging that she have the care and custody of the child until further order of the court. She was given a lump sum of $5,000 as a division of property, a monthly alimony of $100 for a period of two years after the date of judgment, and $50 a month support money for David. After the granting of the divorce decree Marjorie went back to Revere, Massachusetts and lived there with her mother. Her father was dead and her mother worked. At the end of two years Mrs. Hamachek had depleted the $5,000 plus $100 a month alimony, plus Davids support money of $50 a month, so that she had no resources for her and David except the $50 support money which continued to be paid by Ogden Hamachek for David. About that time, in September, 1952, she began to work at a furniture store and earned a take-home pay of about $33 a week.
